The International Society of Black Costume Designers (ISBCD)

Mission Statement:

The International Society of Black Costume Designers (ISBCD) is committed to advancing the art and profession of costume design through film, television, theater,  live performance, commercials, and music videos. worldwide. Our mission is to support, celebrate, and elevate Black Costume Designers by fostering a community built on education, mentorship, and meaningful engagement.

Through our initiatives, we aim to:​

1. Inspire Excellence: Encourage artistic innovation and professional growth among Black Costume Designers by providing resources, workshops, and access to industry leaders.

2. Promote Visibility: Advocate for greater recognition and representation of black talent in all aspects of costume design.

3. Build Community: Create a network of support that connects emerging and established designers, fostering collaboration and shared success.

4. Empower Through Education: Offer educational programs and mentorship opportunities to nurture the next generation of Black Costume Designers.

5. Celebrate Achievements: Highlight and honor the contributions and accomplishments of Black Costume Designers in shaping storytelling across media platforms.

At ISBCD, we believe that diversity enriches creativity, and we are dedicated to ensuring that the voices and visions of Black Costume Designers are seen, heard, and celebrated on the global stage.
